Monte Terminillo is a towering massif in the Monti Reatini range of central Italy's Abruzzi Apennine mountains. Located roughly 20 kilometers from Rieti and a 100-kilometer drive from Rome, it stands at an impressive height of 2,217 meters (7,274 feet) above sea level. This typical Apennine massif is easily recognizable by its unique morphology, featuring a mix of gentle and sharp slopes. The surrounding landscape is home to a diverse array of fauna and vegetation, making it a haven for nature enthusiasts. Deep valleys separate the massif from neighboring smaller peaks, including the Valle Leonina, which winds its way to the town of Leonessa, and the Ravara and Capo Scura valleys, both leading to the Velino River. To the east lie the dramatic Valle dell'Inferno ("Hell's Valley") and Valle degli Angeli ("Angels' Valley"), which slope down to Rieti's fertile plain and the Cantalice mountains.
