Monte Terminillo stands tall as a majestic massif within the Monti Reatini range, situated deep within central Italy's Abruzzi Apennine mountains. Its remote location is approximately 20 kilometers from Rieti and a substantial 100 kilometers from Rome, with an impressive highest point of 2,217 meters (7,274 feet) above sea level. This rugged massif boasts a distinctive morphology, showcasing an intricate yet not excessively dramatic landscape. The local fauna and vegetation thrive in harmony with its terrain, creating a unique ecosystem. Its slopes are neatly divided by deep valleys carved out by the surrounding smaller massifs, including the Valle Leonina, which flows towards Leonessa, as well as the Ravara and Capo Scura valleys, both of which lead to the Velino River's basin. On the opposite sides of Monte Terminillo lie two striking valleys: the Valle dell'Inferno ("Hell's Valley") and the Valle degli Angeli ("Angels' Valley"), both of which converge towards Rieti's flatlands and the Cantalice mountains.
