Montcortès Castle and Santa Anna little church
sketchfab
The original castle of Montcortès was first recorded in the 11th century, as stated in the testament of Sir Guillem Isarn de Trevics. Nevertheless, similar to numerous other border castles, by the close of the 15th century it underwent significant changes and was replaced by the structure that stands today. The construction of this new castle resulted in a magnificent rectangular fortress featuring two identical towers, a large semicircular Romanesque façade on the eastern side, Renaissance-style windows, and an arched gallery, all expertly crafted by Joan Barrufet. Located directly in front of the small 16th-century church is the quaint town of Montornès de Segarra in Catalonia.
