With every single one of my models, I've got a maximum simplicity in mind. But sometimes, a lone detail gives this little extra CNC flair. In this case, the tires are laser-engraved to get that cool thread that's a main feature on monster trucks. My build was done on a desktop CNC machine by StepCraft using a spiral-toothed 1.2 mm flute. I used 6.5 mm Baltic birch plywood and 20 mm black MDF for the tires. The tires were engraved by my poor man's 4th axis, which is more of a rotary engraver really. Two 6 mm beech rods made the axles. Some spray paint gave the truck a nice finish. A laser cutter might be a good alternative tool to create smaller versions, you just need to find a solution for the engraved tires.
