Monster Claw - Halloween

Monster Claw - Halloween

thingiverse

I created this monster claw last year for Halloween and had a blast making it! I wear large gloves and these claws fit perfectly inside, along with a lightweight glove underneath. My girlfriend also has a set, and we made adjustments to reduce them by 0.08% - they fit really well too. She's wearing my claws in the photos while wearing the Plaque Doctor mask. It's worth noting that this design is for left-handed people only. Right-handers will need to mirror it on the X-axis to get their own set of claws. If you want a more durable claw, I recommend reinforcing the rings using Blender or another tool - I stopped there because I was satisfied but suggest doing so after using these. You can also visit my TIG Monster Claw project and download the STL from there, which includes a modified ring that adds to the creepy factor. To attach them together, run rubber string through the holes or sew them into a real glove. I've uploaded the correct hand plate so you can use the block guides for the rubber string to create opposable thumbs. For an awesome monster skinnish finish, I recommend an acetone bath. Later on, I turned these claws into a useful tool for TIG welding - you can find that model here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1682883 Update: I added the Ring_Stay.stl file, which you can use to overlay and join into all the knuckles and fingers. You'll need to resize it for each one, but it's a good start! Probably this coming Halloween, I'll add those in and re-upload. Print Settings: * Printer Brand: LulzBot * Printer: TAZ 5 * Rafts: No * Supports: Yes * Resolution: 0.5 * Infill: 40 Notes: Place the claws upside down on the platform, with the backside facing downwards. The tip points straight up, and I set a slight angle upwards so just the backside of the finger plate sits on the plate while the rest angles slightly upwards. The supports give it a nasty look on the backside but add to the creepiness - I recommend not cleaning them up too much. For an awesome monster skinnish finish, I recommend an acetone bath! The top side is the least functional part and will come out pretty nice looking with good support and print speed. If you want it perfect, then hopefully you've printed 3D a few times and know how to make that happen - it requires some clean up too. You can try printing on the sides but my original models without guide paths (and when I was printing too hot and too fast) came out bad. Slow down and it might turn out fantastic! I recommend 3mm walls for toughness and heat resistance, as well as 0.5mm spacing on your supports to make it sturdy and prevent spaghetti from occurring. 20-30 print speeds with a 1.08 upscale give great results for a TIG Monster Finger going on a large size glove that's a bit loose on a large size wearer with thin fingers. Upscale to 1.20 or higher for those larger meat hooks.
