Monserrate - Colombia
myminifactory
Welcome to Bogotá! Monserrate, named after the Catalan mountain Montserrat, is a majestic peak that dominates the city center of Colombia's capital. It reaches an elevation of 10,341 feet above sea level, where a church built in the 17th century stands with a shrine dedicated to El Señor Caído, or "The Fallen Lord." This sacred hill has been revered since pre-Columbian times when indigenous Muisca people inhabited the area. Today, it's a popular pilgrimage site and tourist attraction, featuring a church, restaurants, cafes, souvenir shops, and other amenities at its summit. Visitors can access Monserrate via aerial tramway, funicular, or by climbing, a preferred route for pilgrims. From its peak, downtown Bogotá, south Bogotá, and parts of the north are visible to the west, making it a prime spot to watch the sunset over the city each year. Monserrate and its neighbor Guadalupe draw many tourists annually. MiniWorld is thrilled to bring this charming miniature to life. This model also represents Colombia in our Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup Collection and was meticulously crafted by hand using SolidWorks software by collaborator Brian Mauricio Sánchez.
