Monoprice Select Mini X axis support 8MM bearings
thingiverse
I was trying to create larger prints that demanded significant head movement at the far end of the X axis. The slight play in the unsupported arm of the Select Mini began to reveal its limitations, resulting in layer issues. It was time to build a sturdy X axis support gantry. The only hitch was that all of the good designs were tailored for 6mm bearings, but I had spare 8mm rods and bearings on hand. So, I remixed it in Blender, incorporating two 30mm fan slots for potential future upgrades. It's still designed to be mounted atop the existing metal side. If you decide to utilize the fan ports, you'll need to cut the corresponding holes in your metal plate. I strategically placed the fan locations so that you can opt to mount the fan inside the case if desired. Note: I deliberately made the rod support hole slightly larger, allowing for a single layer of tape around it. This significantly enhances the grip on the rod without necessitating excessive tightening of the nut and bolt.
