Human: Monoprice MP Select Mini: Simplified no-drill Heated Bed Rewire Mod with Stock Side Panel by vdub6127 For those unfamiliar with the issue: the stock wiring under the heated bed routes wires through the top of the chassis on the MP Select Mini, causing them to fray and wear over time as they rub against the sides of the opening. A common modification is to route the wires externally around the back of the unit, allowing them to move freely without friction. Current solutions for the heated bed rewire seem overly complicated. My goal was to achieve the same function with a few key objectives in mind: - Easy installation - Reuse the stock metal side panel and screws - Avoid drilling through the panel and voiding the warranty - Minimal cosmetic change, looking almost unchanged when done - Minimize additional supplies such as wiring housings and grommets - Most importantly: avoid 4 hours of printing an entirely new panel. This design prints in about 45 minutes I made this possible by designing a 2mm spacer between the chassis and side panel with a space allowing wires to pass through to the interior. With the four wires aligned vertically, they can comfortably fit through a 2mm gap in the side. Rather than using cable housing, I opted for evenly-spaced zip-ties. In place of printing a "cable guide" to route wires from under the bed, I secured them down using electrical tape. It's assumed that you'll be printing this on the mini itself, so the design is split into two separate parts: front and back. The full one-piece version is also included. Notes: - Since only the sides of the print are visible, you can make it as ugly as needed to optimize for print speed. I used 0.2625 layer height and it was just fine. - This mod makes it a bit harder to get SD cards in and out, but using wifi or Octoprint has not been an issue for me. When I need to remove the card, I use the nearby bed-leveling allan wrench to push it. - The 2mm width seemed sufficient clearance for screws to catch threads, but my first iteration (which was 2.5mm) had one screw that failed to catch, so it's sensitive to width changes. Your mileage may vary. - In case there's concern about wires rubbing on the side panel: on my printer, this has not been a problem. When the bed is fully extended, it has plenty of slack and does not put any strain there. Again, YMMV.
