Monoprice MP Select Mini 3D Printer glass bed Clips
thingiverse
I no longer own this printer, so support for this is limited! Reports have surfaced indicating that the left side clips tend to bind, requiring modifications depending on how tightly they fit. I needed to add a glass bed to my Monoprice Mini Select 3D Printer but couldn't find any clips for it, so I created my own. These clips enable you to level your bed and easily remove the glass for print removal. A suitable glass bed can be found on eBay - I purchased one measuring 130mmx130mmx3mm, which fits well for this print bed. I also experimented with a 140mmx140mmx3mm glass bed but it sticks out in certain areas. Note that these clips don't clip down onto the glass; instead, they push inward tightly to secure the glass in place. To use these clips, you'll need to print two Back Left corner clips (which go on the Back Left and Front Right corners) and two Back Right corner clips (which go on the Back Right and Front Left corners). Before attempting to use your glass plate, ensure that you've printed a Z-axis shim first. The clip is customizable if you have your own glass plate; it should work for both larger and smaller plates with some customization. Make sure to print out a Z-axis shim that matches your glass bed thickness before proceeding. Measure carefully to obtain the correct height for the latch on the clips, especially if you're not using a 3mm glass plate with a 3mm Z-axis shim. Estimate the glass plate's dimensions to be smaller in length and width so that the clips push tightly against it. I believe this is the final version! Note: I printed with 100% infill and black ABS on this printer for the final version. It's recommended to print just one clip first, test its fit, and make any necessary modifications before printing all of them. Print Settings Resolution: 2.0 Infill: 100% Notes: Printing in ABS is recommended since it's a heated bed; however, PLA might also work since this bed doesn't get extremely hot. Supports are only required inside the latch but can possibly be omitted altogether. I typically print parts like these with high infill to prevent breaking; in this case, I used 100% infill to prevent the narrow tabs from breaking. Post-Printing This clip is supposed to fit tightly or the glass will move. If some areas are too tight, you may need to sand a slight amount. I usually use an emery board for this purpose. One of my clips was too tight underneath against the screw mount, so I had to sand the edge of the latch. You can tell if the clip doesn't slide up nicely into place when releasing tension on the spring.
