Monoprice Maker Select X Axis Upgrade
thingiverse
I was upgrading my Maker Select V2.1 and noticed that I could move the x axis forward and backward by about 3mm, which is undesirable. The only way to tighten it was to tighten a grub nut hidden behind a metal plate, a bar, and several other pieces of metal. So, I designed this upgrade to replace it. The rods are fully supported and free from wobble. In fact, you have to apply some force to insert them, so I just heat the inside of the holes for about a second and then push them in, and they fit perfectly! Built-in upgrades: Dual Z Endstops Fully Supported Rods Screws placed in accessible locations Utilizes components that I felt were sufficient Needs Improvement: The X Limit Switches activate too early, so you can't get the full bed size. However, this issue will be resolved as soon as I regain access to my computer. Belt Tensioner: Currently, there's no way to tighten it without removing the belt. Larger hole for the idler: Its placement is a bit tricky. Offsetting the belt mount to the extruder assembly to accommodate the new idler location Holes for the drag chain need to be moved to the opposite side... I'm not sure how I placed them on the back in the first place. For now, a torch and tweezers work to create the holes. Notes: Print at higher temperatures if you have an enclosed build chamber. Attach the belt before assembling the printer; otherwise, it's harder to fish it through. Use Teaching Techs Z Endstop Mounts with one mirrored for Dual Z endstops. A longer bolt and washer will be required for the idler; I'll update when I determine the correct size. If you create this upgrade, please post pictures! I love seeing others make my designs.
