Monolith from 2001: A Space Odyssey

The simplicity of this design was just too enticing! You'll find examples of this concept out there already, but I just couldn't help myself. The obviousness of its sides' mathematical ratio, a quadratic sequence no less – 1:4:9 – hits you right in the face. And who could blame us for thinking that's where the series ends, only taking shape in three dimensions? Crafted using Autodesk 123D Make, this model is delightfully uncomplicated. Its compact size makes it easily scalable to any size you require. The version featured in the image measures 1 x 4 x 9 cm – though, really, the possibilities are endless!
