Monogram Cube
thingiverse
When tackling a design challenge, students instinctively rely on sketches or drawings to convey their concepts. Experienced designers and engineers also employ sketches as a means of communication, having developed established standards and conventions to optimize comprehension. In this lesson, students navigate the engineering design process to craft a monogram cube keychain while learning how to articulate their design ideas through thumbnail, isometric, and multiview sketches. If utilizing PLTW curriculum, this lesson complements Design & Modeling 2019, Activity 1.2 "A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words." If access to PLTW curriculum is unavailable, I have included links to alternative resources for instruction.
