Have them import animal models into Meshmixer. Steps: Use a mouse to guide students step-by-step through a modified pattern on the animal model, creating holes and increasing thickness as needed. Practice using tool tips takes some time. Results: Students can create very creative patterns using their mouse. The hollow carved lamp plays lights beautifully when turned on.
