Monkey in Brussels, Belgium

myminifactory

This life-size sculpture of a monkey is cast in bronze by contemporary Belgian sculptor Jean Roig. Roig's subjects come in many forms but animals are a recurring theme throughout his work. The animals he depicts often sit atop pedestals, surrounded by motifs that convey a sense of struggle; this particular statue comes with chains that securely bind it to its plinth. This impressive piece adorns the fountain in Pieter Breughel square. It's part of "Scan The World", a non-profit initiative launched by MyMiniFactory. Through Scan the World, we're creating a digital archive of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks and landmarks from all over the globe for anyone to access for free. This is an open source community effort; if you have interesting items around you that you'd like to contribute, just email stw@myminifactory.com to learn how you can get involved.
