The commemorative plaque to Antonio Arribas Palau (1926-2002) hangs on the door of the Arqueometría laboratory at UGR. A graduate in History from the University of Barcelona, he earned his PhD in Madrid in 1952 with a thesis on medieval history, Jaime II and Sardinia (immediate diplomatic negotiations and island conquest), 1315-1327. He worked alongside Almagro Basch at the Barcelona museum and was co-director of the Los Millares Chalcolithic site excavation. In 1964, he secured the chair in Prehistory and Ethnology at the University of Granada, where he founded the Cuadernos de Prehistoria journal at UGR in 1976. He moved to the University of the Balearics, becoming dean in 1979 and retiring in 1991. Without a doubt, one of the greatest investigators of the twentieth century.
