Mondrian coreXY with dry linear guides
grabcad
The Mondrian is a cutting-edge 3D printer design, engineered for seamless upgrades and modification. The innovative CoreXY configuration sets out to keep both motor-driven axes stationary with the chassis, reducing inertia in the print head while accelerating movements without sacrificing print quality. Moreover, the integration of dry linear guides addresses an additional advantage - minimal grease usage eliminates mess when handling the device. Building on past experiments, the designer attempted a comparable improvement through the HBot kinematic, a variation similar to CoreXY but more comprehensible. Nevertheless, this earlier iteration could be prone to buckling due to design limitations. To date, mechanical stability has been achieved in tests, as visible in a YouTube video posted online; however, there's still an opportunity for acceleration and potentially improved speed - if only a follow-up video detailing these faster speeds were captured!
