Monarch Butterfly

Monarch Butterfly

I created this project a long time ago and finally decided it was worth sharing. To make the butterfly, all I did was increase its thickness to 5mm. Next, I imported the STL file into Tinkercad, overlaid a 5mm square over it, and then hollowed out the butterfly. After that, it took some effort to remove all the areas I didn't need. I printed the butterfly in one color and the wings in another before pressing them together. For this project, I used ABS for both the butterfly and the wings. The pieces fit together surprisingly well, although a few required gentle tapping with a wooden block. I'd like to extend my gratitude to Liz Havlin and the original design (1046380) that started it all - she did the hard work.
