The [Mona 21 is a kit](https://acoustic-design-online.de/de/mona-21.html) for a compact and inexpensive 2.1 speaker system with amazing sound quality. Details and info on the assembly can be found in [Udo's magazine article](https://www.acoustic-design-magazin.de/2016/08/19/mona-2-1/) (in german). Since the satellites are relatively compact, they are in suitable for printing in my Ultimaker 2+ with its space of 20x20x20cm. Theoretically, one satellite box could be printed in one piece in the FDM printer. However, the support structures that are necessary in any case can be removed more easily if you print a satellite in two parts and then glue them together. To prevent the two halves from shifting when glued together, 2mm holes are provided in the model. I put 2mm studs in one half - and the second half is then precisely fixed. For gluing I used 2-component epoxy glue. As the glued areas are visible, I would add a little matching colour pigment to the glue next time. I thoroughly sanded the surfaces of the satellites with wet sandpaper and then painted them with [epoxy varnish](https://www.3djake.ch/de-CH/smooth-on/xtc-3d-epoxidharz). For fun, I refinished the white one again with fine 320 grit sandpaper. The result is a great, velvety finish. The boxes are closed in the foot with a closing plate. On the outside there is a luster terminal for the connection to the amplifier. The resistor and the inductor coil for the frequency filter are soldered to the inside and fixed with hot glue. Since the speakers should be solid for acoustic reasons, the walls are 5mm thick. I printed with 40% Gyroid infill and 4 layers of wall thickness. I didn't notice any difference in sound quality compared to the original with 19mm MDF material ... but I'm not a big hi-fi expert either.
