Momentum Fidget Spinner v2

Momentum Fidget Spinner v2

I took a previous spinner and gave it a complete overhaul. This new version does away with the ceramic bearing, opting instead for 10mm rare earth magnets*. The result is a spin that's more dynamic, accelerating rapidly as it picks up speed. It reaches its top speed in about 30-45 seconds without much effort at all. As it slows down, it also starts to slow down faster than before, requiring one or two extra flicks to get it spinning again once the magnets reach their outer position. The design was inspired by some innovative example prints I saw in whosawhatsis's book, 3D Printed Science Projects*, when I attended the Maker Faire. To bring this project to life, I used Atomic Filament Clearance Translucent Ruby Red PLA and Filamentum Vertigo Gray PLA*. You can check out a video of it in action on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swua50XJmQY.
