Molly (cat) sculpture
thingiverse
This is a model of my cat Molly that I am working on in Blender. I wanted to scan her using my Kinect but she moves too much (she follows you as you move it around, ruining it). So I took a couple of reference pictures and have created the basic model, and sculpted in some detail. Molly is a British Shorthair, and they come chunky (other notable British shorthairs: Garfield, and the Cheshire Cat). I think the model is currently a little more chunky than the actual cat though, due to the limited views I had in my reference images. And I'm a noob at 3D sculpting like this, so there's that. Still, I think it came out pretty good. I need to fix her right ear and a couple of other things, but that's basically her. Instructions I have printed the 100mm one with MeshMixer supports at 2 shells (0.8mm) and 0 infill with surprisingly good results (just the little low spot between her shoulder blades came through a little light, which is much better than I expected). So in other words, print it however you print anything, and it will likely turn out pretty well. The chin does need a bit of support to avoid air-printing, but that's what the MeshMixer-supported version is for if you don't want to use your slicer's built-in supports.
