Molecular Shapes and Geometries Project
thingiverse
Students can develop a deeper understanding of molecules by thinking in three dimensions with the help of this project. Students typically draw many compounds on paper, but this method does not allow them to convert the information into real-world applications. To address this issue, students are divided into groups and each group is given a different geometry and shape (some groups may work on more than one). Each group will create a molecule that represents their geometry and shape using Tinkercad. The model must feature a central atom, terminal atoms, shared electrons/bonds, unshared electrons/lone pairs, and correct bond angles.
