Molding form for the body interaction vibration board
thingiverse
With this 3D printed mold you can overmold a PCB - in this case a board with vibration motor and LiPo. The vibration is more comfortable and less noisy compared to pure 3D printed cases. Silicone cases are easy to clean. The form was designed for the Body Interaction Board. Learn more at www.bodyinteraction.com To assemble, print out the 3D mold. Make sure its surface is as smooth as possible. Then, secure two parts of the mold together with tinkering wire. Install the LiPo and vibration motor on the board. Apply glue to the board first. Secure the vibration motor cables to the board before attaching the LiPo on top. Place the motor's cables between the LiPO and the board. Add a layer of plasticine on top of the switch. This will prevent silicone from flowing into it during molding. Remove the plasticine after molding. Seal any USB port holes with glue or tape. It is crucial that the silicone does not flow into these areas or between ports and connectors. Failure to do so can lead to damaged USB connectors or a drained battery, both impossible to repair. Connect the USB cable to the port. Secure it with tinkering wire, ensuring the board and motor remain separate from the mold. Verify this carefully. Mix the silicone components together. Pour them slowly into the 3D printed form, being mindful of air bubbles that may appear. Use a vacuum tube if possible to remove them; if not, blowing air can help clear at least some. Once solidified, remove the 3D printed mold. Remove any excess material and plasticine from the switch area. Be cautious when disconnecting the USB plug as forcing it can damage the board irreparably.
