Mold to create anything in recycled papier-mâché
thingiverse
I'm inspired by the papier-mâché mold of XYZAidan, found on Thingiverse at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3912997. Using OpenSCAD code, I quickly created three modules that take a shape as input - possibly imported from an STL file. These modules give you the components needed to create the mold for the given shape. This file is not intended for direct use; instead, replace the gadget module with your preferred item. The source code includes thin documentation, and I've included a proof-of-concept STL file for a short Brio rail. However, don't print this STL as it contains the rail itself. I think Brio rails are ideal candidates for recycled cardboard due to their simplicity - one or two molds can create an entire circuit of them. Duplo bricks would also work well if we could achieve precise tolerances. The computation involved in creating these molds is probably resource-intensive, mainly because it relies heavily on Minkowski sums (two- and three-dimensional). If OpenSCAD supported Minkowski sum with a one-dimensional object, this process would be significantly simpler.
With this file you will be able to print Mold to create anything in recycled papier-mâché with your 3D printer. Click on the button and save the file on your computer to work, edit or customize your design. You can also find more 3D designs for printers on Mold to create anything in recycled papier-mâché.
