Stopper Mold for Grenade
This mold makes silicone stoppers for airsoft/paintball gas grenades. Before first use, it's a good idea to remove any print overspill and burrs from the individual pieces so they fold easily and fit together well. Needed materials: - printed mold - silicone sealant (standard sanitary) - jar for dishes - fine brush - hair bands Production process: First, treat each mold piece against silicone adhesion. A common jar of dishes works great - apply a thin layer with a fine brush to the mold walls. Let it dry slightly. Next, fold four side pieces into a square base and align them to ensure they fit together. Then, fill the mold with silicone, leaving about 1mm below the top edge. Aligning it with the top won't hurt anything. Finally, carefully place the upper lid and press it firmly in place. Excess silicone will start leaking out of the holes on the sides. If the silicone tends to lift the lid when drying (it happened to me once with an unknown Asian brand), just put hair bands over the mold. The time it takes for silicone sealant to cure depends on the manufacturer, temperature, and humidity - typically around 40-50 hours. Be prepared to experiment with the first pieces. After curing, the mold should come apart easily and the silicone cast should be firm and flexible. If it sticks or tears during extraction, add more time until it's fully cured. The finished cap will have burrs from the gaps between the pieces - cut them off or tear them away.
