A while back I watched this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqncOP7OzMg&t=51s. I also saw a competition around the same time. In my mind, I combined these two ideas and used some basic design software to put it all together with Tinkercad. INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Print out one of everything, including the handle if you want to use it. Assemble the parts by aligning the fin bumps facing outward and the base bumps facing up. 2. Drill out the holes as shown in the pictures. You can use a drill or grab some pliers and a nail. Heat up the nail over a fire (a stovetop will work) and melt the holes into the plastic. 3. Get some fishing line, which I used red string for visibility, but you don't want too much of it in your videos. 4. Cut three pieces 6-8 feet each and tie them into the holes. 5. Take the other ends and tie them together, making sure that the base is level to it (basically make them the same length). 6. If you decide to use the handle, be sure to tie the string on securely while still allowing it to rotate freely. 7. Test it without putting the cam in yet. Hold the device one foot from the base and swing it slowly as you let out the string. When you get to the end, you can pick up speed. To stop it, slow down, grab further up the string, and stop with your arm high so it doesn't hit the ground. 8. Adjust if necessary. If it wobbles or faces sideways, or one string is loose, adjust it until all strings are tight and facing forward. 9. Settings: I recommend 720p at 120fps, but if you need HD, use 180fps at 60fps and slow down in post. 10. Put the cam inside and secure it with a rubber band or two. You're done! Enjoy! Recommended settings: infill: 15% layer height: .15-.2mm support: none material: PLA or ABS (I prefer PLA)
