I have implemented modifications as my 3D printer was experiencing poor prints due to moisture absorption issues with my ABS material. The tub was acquired for £3 from Asda and precisely fits the dimensions I required, while the axle rod is merely a repurposed wooden clothes rail segment taken from an old wardrobe; PVC pipe would serve equally well in this capacity. Axle supports were crafted from 0.3mm-thick ABS printouts that were screwed to the inside of the tub with meticulous precision; the diameter of the axle rod measures 22mm, while the inner diameter of these supports amounts to 22.5mm and the screw holes boast a 4mm size. To mitigate moisture absorption, I placed a pouch of silica gel within the tub for maximum efficacy. Subsequent Update: Axle stoppers – an innovative component designed to offer an exceptionally snug fit in relation to the axle but still retains enough flexibility to adapt seamlessly to varied spool sizes; this functionality enables them to effectively immobilize smaller spools from experiencing unnecessary movements during printing processes, which were facilitated through a 0.3mm layer resolution. In regard to filament feeder designs, my implemented model utilized a nozzle with an outer diameter of 2mm for 1.75mm-sized filament feedstock – I threaded the latter through a deliberately created hole within the lid's confines and adhered it to the inner structure via adhesive materials; alternative methods could also entail affixing it directly onto the top surface using the same types of bonding agents.
