Moineau Soap Dispenser

Moineau Soap Dispenser

I was challenged to create a unique hand soap dispenser surpassing Crate & Barrel's options. After multiple design iterations, this bottle became our bathroom fixture. The dispenser minimizes waste through refillability, soap recycling feature, and precise control of soap dispensed. Assembly instructions involve twisting the crank onto the rotor, inserting it into the pump body, filling by removing the rotor, and sliding it back down. Be cautious not to overfill as it may overflow when the rotor is inserted. To use, turn the crank until soap spills from the spout, wiping your finger up the spout for desired soap amount. The crank ensures an easy turning experience due to soap's viscosity. The dispenser uses a progressing cavity or Moineau pump, invented by René Moineau in 1930 and detailed in his doctoral thesis, which helped found his company that still sells these pumps today (http://www.pcm-pump.com/pump-manufacturer/history.html). The progressing cavity pump's performance in Europe was discussed at the Offshore South East Asia Show on 2-5 February 1988, Singapore (http://www.onepetro.org/mslib/servlet/onepetropreview?id=00017676&soc=SPE).
