Modulo Zayra

This module was the first component of what would eventually become the International Space Station. It was transported on November 20, 1998, aboard a Russian-made Proton rocket and serves to provide propulsion, electricity, and storage capacity to the ISS. The Zayra (dawn in Russian) was built in Russia and funded by the United States. The Zarya Module is 12.6 meters long. It has solar cells installed at its ends measuring 10.7 meters long by 3.4 meters wide. The module can store up to six tons of fuel.
