Modular Tubing Reel Storage Dispenser
thingiverse
My wife needed to be able to store and dispense a variety of tubing at work so I designed this reel system that can sit on a pole inside a really useful box and the tubing is fed through grommets that are a snug fit. It has 2.5cm, 5cm, 7.5cm and 10cm tall reels - but I also made a coupler so you can join them together in any combination for different tubing. There is a male side of the reel with a thread and a female end that screws onto it (giggity). There's a good amount of tolerance on the threads so it should be easy to install. The reel diameter is 234cm to make the most of my Creality CR6-SE bed size.Easy to print with no supports needed. The reels just sit on a pole and spins as needed so I made an nice strong mount that bolts to the side of the box for the tub to sit on. There's nothing to clamp the pole in as you're likely to want to often remove the whole unit to change tubing reels. We used a 19mm pipe as that's what we had. But I've exported for a few common pipe sizes.I made grommets to go on the outside of the box with different sized holes in it with nice knurling I'm quite proud of. They are basically a hollow bolt with a nut that screw into a hole drilled into the side of the box (use a step-drill to drill the holes in the plastic - not a regular twist drill or it will crack). The text is based on the outer diameter of the tubing plus 1mm. They drilled some of them out to get the right level of friction if needed so I provided a blank one too that can be drilled to any hole-size - you can tell the slicer to make the centre 100% infill to save some filament but still be suitable to drill. There's also a little plate you can modify and stick on the side with details of the tubing. I've printed versions that are exactly 4mm, 2mm and 1.8m diameter with no extra tolerance with no text you could use to dispense filament or PTFE tubing with if you wanted (although the bolts are quite large and wasteful of filament for such small holes). There are so many grommet files I've made a separate thing for them here. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6379144I've included the solidworks and STP files if people want to tinker. Some of the STLs will need rotating in the slicer to be flat on the bed before printing.
