Modular Train Track Set, Standard Compatible, and Customizable

This is a printer-friendly modular train track set designed to snap together with ease using minimal toddler strength, yet holds strong enough for a parent to pick up as one complete unit, eliminating the risk of it falling apart while in use by children. It seamlessly integrates with the most common standard toy train sizes. The pieces connect by simply placing the latch from one over the other and pressing down firmly. This smooth press is more suitable for small children than high resistance when pushing together like some commercial models require. Keep in mind that printer variations may occur, so if your printer produces a piece that's too tight or too loose, adjust the tolerance parameter using the latch_tol variable. To fine-tune the fit, increase the tolerance to loosen it and decrease it to tighten it. At current filament prices, printing a single regular-sized curved or straight piece costs approximately 30 cents. A standard oval set consisting of 8 curved pieces and 2 straight pieces would require about $3 worth of filament. Additional creativity is possible with stl files provided for half-sized pieces. To add an extra layer of fun, I decided to print a set using glow-in-the-dark PLA filament for my child's entertainment. Customizer note: Thingiverse's customizer is currently running on a 4-year-old version of OpenSCAD, which doesn't support extruded arcs. This means only the straight pieces display correctly in the customizer. For those who want to customize the curved tracks, it's recommended to download and use OpenSCAD instead.
