Human: Building a custom spinning top was a fun project I tackled alongside my daughter. The first prototype sparked an idea - to create something modular and easy to assemble. Before long, we added a mechanical starter mechanism that made the process even smoother.\n\nAs we worked on the design, I realized that certain parts like the tip and handles were tricky for her to remove, so I started incorporating features that allowed for effortless fastening and removal of components. The starter can now be used as a wrench tool on most smaller parts.\n\nIn the end, refining all the parts took up much more time than anticipated, but I'm thrilled with the result - a versatile and modular top construction kit that's perfect for experimentation.\n\nThe ModularTopsV3_all_parts_v1.1.zip file contains all the parts organized by category, along with a comprehensive pdf guide to get you started.\n\nTake on the challenge of building different tops:\n\nMost Stable Top\n* Should stay put with minimal movement\n* (short handle, low center of gravity, smooth shape, sharp tip, etc.)\n\nMost Agile Top\n* Should move in circles quickly\n* (rounded tip, flat tip, inverted, etc.)\n\nLongest Spinning Top\n* Test your skills by timing the longest spin\n* Heavy weight to store more energy\n* Weight further away from center has a greater influence\n\nBuilding a "Boomerang Top"\n* Start it at an angle so that the top moves away and comes back in a circle\n* (rounded or flat tip, requires well-coordinated start)\n\nBuilding an "Inverting Top"\n* Requires a sphere-shaped body with low center of gravity (must be below center of vertical axis)\n* Depends on friction between top and surface (the exact mechanics are quite complex)\n\nStable Top with Sphere-Shaped Body\n* Use the sphere body with higher center of gravity\n* Add a disc to change center of gravity\n\nUpdate v1.1 (2019-02-26)\n\nAdded longer starter cords for better leverage\nAdded HS05 starter handle with double disc receiver for added stability\nAdded B12 Flybody 100 for flight capabilities
