Update 9/10/15 - Acid Brush Holder Update 9/07/15: Pen Holder and Drafting Tool Holder. This modular, user-customizable, reconfigurable tool holder system allows you to create your own custom tool holders for each of your favorite tools. You can expand the caddy with new modules beyond the basics that I designed in about 10 minutes. To make a second back row that's higher, use the "riser" file. To make your own tool holders, use the included "blanks" files. Step 1: Use the two files called Tool Hold End Piece and the file Tool Hold Channel on your machine to test the design. If the files on your system are initially small when you load them, just scale up by 10. Measurements will be in metric. For example, the end piece measures 4x34x33 mm. Step 2: Print out a base (standing upright) and a few tool holders. Each is labeled for the tool that it was designed to hold. Step 3: Use one of the 1 cm, 2 cm, or 3 cm wide "blanks" to model your own tool holders, or just scale the blank's length to fit your need. If the files on your system are initially small when you load them, just scale up by 10. Measurements will be in metric. Step 4: Get fancy. Design a two-part tool holder! What I mean is design a tool holder that has TWO HALVES, each with a cut out for part of the tool (for bigger tools). The groove in the front is for a ruler. Try using just two blanks as spacers without a tool holder. Make a shorter Tool-Holder by scaling the z-axis on the base. Actuone weld the bases into any configuration. For example, try having a 2x2 or 1x4 (inline) arrangement for multiple holders and use a riser for higher levels. You can even stack the risers. Have fun! Project Parameters: Platform: Up!3D Resolution: 200 u / fast print mode Material: ABS CAD: TrueSpace 7.61 Art-to-Part time: 60 minutes Design notes: Design: Individual tool holders work well and draft easily. Printing: Print models upright so there is no overhang. Other good search terms: tool organizer, caddy, holder A different but nice design: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:248594
