Modular Thomas the train trackmaster rail car wagons

Rail Cars for the Thomas Trackmaster sets can also work with Brio if you use a different connector. I started with two designs from Thingiverse, http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:358779 and http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1620364, which I heavily modified to meet my goals. My primary objective was to enable the rail cars to "snap" together as much as possible straight off the printer without using any glue. To achieve this, I aimed to minimize the use of supports, reserving them only for the roof of the box car. This design choice also made it easier to print all parts with minimal support material. My second goal was to create a modular system where one rail carriage base can be printed and then different bodies can fit onto it. By designing the set this way, I hoped that others would create more cars to fit the carriage, allowing users to mix and match their prints. The flat car design is scalable, making it easy for others to adapt many of the other designs on Thingiverse to fit onto it. I encourage users to post their remixes or prints, as I'd love to see how they turn out. Print Settings: Printer Brand: FlashForge Printer: FlashForge Creator Pro Rafts: No Resolution: 0.30 Infill: 10% Notes: I printed all of these using PLA. The box car body is made from HatchBox Wood filament.
