Modular terrain for Warhammer, D&D, etc
thingiverse
A modular system of buildings and structures for Warhammer, 40k, D&D, or whatever you play. These are designed to be compatible with WastelandScenics' Skrap Landz terrain system. In the attached photos I'm using the Skrap Landz posts to hold up the walls and their 'railing' posts for the short walls. I'm using their platforms for the floors. All of the walls are my own design, and after I'd cobbled together a couple (more than a couple!) of walls for my own use, I thought it was worth sharing them with the community. These walls are designed to be printed upright and without supports. Large overhangs are kept to 45 degrees or less, and small overhangs (i.e. individual bricks) are kept to less than 1mm. I designed the features to be relatively big and chunky to make them easier to print quickly at larger layer heights. In Cura I applied a 5mm brim to help the walls adhere to the print bed. I printed everything in the photos at 0.3mm layer height, so that I could print them relatively fast using my Anycubic Mega. I've also printed test pieces using both an Anycubic Mega and an Ultimaker 3 to double-check that there are no problems printing either the individual bricks as they protrude from the wall, or the larger arched doorways, without supports. Here's an example of a doorway being printed on an Ultimaker 3: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4ERANnym_k The doorways have slots to allow removeable doors to be used as required. The included door files are best printed flat on the print bed. For these I increased the print resolution I used to 0.2mm. Doorways and smaller ruined openings are designed for use by models with up 40mm bases. The largest ruined opening is designed for models on 60mm bases, with 'edge' walls used to increase the opening height as required (for example, to accomodate a 40k Dreadnought as shown in the photos). To give you an idea of scale, the photos show the walls along with some standard 40k Space Marines on 32mm bases. There's a Terminator on a 40mm base to show the scale of one of the doorways, and a Dreadnought on a 60mm base showing the larger ruined opening. It's not essential that you paint your own models baby-pink, though it's strongly recommended ;) The brick theme is intentionally kept vague enough that it'll fit most games - scifi 40k, or swords and magic D&D. Likewise, I tried to keep damage general enough looking that it could be power swords or monster claws, gunshots or magic missiles, whatever your game requires. Once they'd printed I just painted the walls in the photos with grey spray-primer. The removable doors are painted with black spray-printer, to help them stand out. A little drybrushing would bring out the detail nicely. I'm not affiliated with WastelandScenics in any way. I chose to make a system that was compatible with theirs after printing out a few different modular terrain sets from Thingiverse and finding Skrap Landz to be the most flexible and useful. It packs down nice and small when not in use, and can be set up quite quickly when needed. Check out WastelandScenics' Thingiverse sample files for short and tall posts to use with these walls: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3896143 They also sell more themes, so go check those out too if you're after more variety. The posts I've used in my photos are ones I bought as part of their "Concrete" bundle: https://imperialterrain.com/products/skraplandz-complete-bundle
