Modular Stevenson Screen
thingiverse
This is a design for my weather station sensor, which doubles as a standard Stevenson screen. I'm equipped with a MakerBot Replicator 5th Gen, featuring a working space of 25.2 L x 19.9 W x 15.0 H cm, so the structure is optimized to fit inside its maximum capacity. Key features include an one inch rod holder and a 15 degrees sloped roof, with modular design elements that enable users to adjust sizes according to their needs. To get started, you'll need to select one of the eleven available internal bracket sizes. This decision will help determine the number of required components for your setup. The different bracket options range from 100mm x 190mm for six side rings up to 250mm x 190mm for sixteen side rings. Here's an example of how you would go about selecting and preparing the necessary parts. Suppose you want to use a TFA weather station sensor with our Stevenson screen setup. In this case, you would choose a 190mm x 190mm internal bracket for twelve side rings, requiring only one such part from our available options. Alongside the selected internal bracket, other essential components include a Stevenson screen stand, base, side ring (x12), cover, and top slant roof piece. All the necessary information is included in a description PDF file found within the Thing File, which should provide detailed insights into building and assembling this setup. Key Assembly Tips: To maintain stability between the stand and base, use an outdoor-rated double-sided tape, coupled with cable ties to secure everything in place. To prevent dislodging, tie down each layer of connecting rods at their centers using long cable ties or pieces of wire. Please like and support our design by giving it a thumbs-up! Your encouragement is truly appreciated. For more details on how to build your very own Stevenson screen setup, refer to the print settings listed below. Print Settings: - Rafts: Any setting works. - Supports: No supports are needed when printing upside-down as per file instructions. - Resolution: Set to 0.2 for best results. - Infill: A minimum of 10% infill is recommended to maintain structural integrity. Note: Printing the design without supports, following the provided layout will give optimal performance.
