I'm a huge fan of Dutchmogul (http://www.thingiverse.com/dutchmogul/about) and devonjones (http://www.thingiverse.com/devonjones/about), two incredibly talented designers here on Thingiverse. Their exceptional designs have been captivating me for quite some time, and I highly recommend checking out their work! It's truly impressive and continues to get better with each passing day. As an avid tabletop gamer, I've recently found myself in dire need of terrain pieces, and I needed a lot of them quickly, all while staying within my budget. However, the dungeon tiles available on this platform, as well as other gaming terrains, have one major drawback: they require a significant amount of material due to their robust design. Observing the thick walls of the first Wayfarer Tactics terrain set and comparing them to the thinner pillars made me realize that there's an issue with proportion. To address this, I decided to use the pillar as the main structure and created thin walls to match. Additionally, many modern gaming mats now make it unnecessary to print floors, unless you want to replicate specific terrain types. Consequently, I opted for a minimalist approach, focusing solely on pillars and walls, which allows for inexpensive and generous filament usage. I'm confident that you'll enjoy this design, and I wish you happy gaming! --- UPDATE 03.01.2020 I've added some additional walls with doors and windows to enhance the overall experience. Print Settings: Printer Brand: MakerBot Printer Model: MakerBot Replicator 2 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2 or thicker for faster prints Infill: 0% Notes: To ensure successful printing, please follow these guidelines: Print the walls standing upright with the small side facing the build platform. Use a brim to prevent wall sections from falling during printing. If you have a heated build plate, it will make the process much easier. For optimal results, use at least 2 shells for each wall section. This will guarantee stable and sturdy construction. Make sure to print with at least 3 top and bottom shells to ensure part integrity. Design Inspiration: I based my design on Dutchmogul's pillar concept and modified it by adding slots that allow for wall sections to be inserted. This creates a highly customizable, lightweight, and easy-to-assemble building system. The wall sections have a base thickness of 2.5 mm and a height of 60 mm. Feel free to adjust the length or create your own custom wall sections if needed.
