Modular shelf pin system
thingiverse
This seemingly ordinary shelf pin is more than meets the eye; it serves as a foundation for an innovative system. Rather than leaving unused holes in your adjustable-shelf bookcase, utilize them with this versatile pin. The loop area functions as a cable organizer, while rotating the pins directs cables up, down, in, and out. Print additional add-ons to enhance functionality: a small shelf for trinkets, a photo/note holder, a flower vase or LED light. Customize your own "thing" on the base. This pin epitomizes the essence of 3D printing - identifying opportunities to improve everyday objects and rapidly prototyping solutions. Explore this concept further in a three-part blog series (links provided). This system is a work in progress, with evolving modules and adjustable designs based on user feedback. Stay tuned for SketchUp files to be released soon. To print, create multiple pins as needed, ensuring stability with 100% infill. Designed for raftless printing without support, these items may require minor sanding for a perfect fit. The photo/note holder requires raft and support and might need design tweaks due to slot peculiarities.
