Don't you hate how round pots don't arrange nicely?
Annoyed by the fact plants grow and need more space?
Want to water multiple plants easily?
Enter: A modular, scalable plant pot!

Background:

I designed these for growing VFTs because I was annoyed by the separate pots of different sizes needing watering at different times. So I made a set of pots and a tray that can be configured in multiple ways - with many possible combinations of small, medium, and larger pots! They fit closely together to minimize evaporation, and are great for starting a small indoor garden for fresh herbs in your kitchen, a small windowsill box, or (as in my case, Venus Fly Traps).

The best part is that if your plant outgrows a pot, just print the next larger size and shuffle them around to make it fit - it's easy to expand. You can always print more trays too!

I've been contemplating ways to connect multiple trays so you only have to water one but that is still a WIP. You can always drill some holes and seal them together with epoxy or a 3d pen but as with designing this feature, getting it leak-proof will be tricky.

Parts Included:

Pot sizes are 40mm, 60mm, and 80mm. Taller variants (+30mm) are included for plants that need more depth. Photos are the standard size pot.

Trays are available in a variety of configurations and sizes depending on how many pots you'd like (there are also some with locations in mind, e.g. a long narrow tray more suited for a windowsill). The pre-sliced tray is 160x160, as is the picture.

Note: 240x240 is the only tray size that will fit an even quantity of the same size pot (3x3 L, 4x4 M, 6x6 S). Other sizes will have some leftover space if you include medium pots.

There is a filler strip included you can snap over the edge of your tray to take up any void space. You can cut it to the required length in the slicer or afterwards by scoring it with a hobby knife and snapping it. It can also snap over the edge of a row of pots if you have a hole in the middle, but will only attach on one side.

I'm happy to add larger or non-square pot and tray size STLs - Just ask!

Print instructions

Print at any desired layer height. I recommend adaptive layers to reduce print time as much as possible.

No supports needed, and most walls should be 3 perimeters thick, or 2 perimeters and a gapfill, depending on your slicer settings.
