Modular Road Segments for Model Train Layout
thingiverse
I wanted to have a roadway for my O gauge train layout. I needed it to be easy to piece together and take apart to be able to experiment with different configurations. It could not be permanently affixed to the surface. It did not have to look real. What worked for me was to build these shapes in Microsoft’s 3D Builder and print them as needed. It was intended that the base files would be printed in white and the insert files in black. For each section, the insert pieces(s) would be glued into the base piece. I simply hold the pieces together with a piece of duct tape on the bottom. Caveats: • They’re not exactly 1:48 scale. I sized these as a compromise. • They ought to stick to your board surface with double back tape. My surface is a spongy outdoor carpet so I screwed them down. Yeah, not so pretty.
