Modular Railroad Grid
myminifactory
Intended for 3d print.UPDATE 20230122: Added four-way crossing. See image gallery. Simple 3d-printable, modular railroad grid. Compatible with most tabletop miniature games. This kit includes 6 model parts (7 if you count the separate buffer stop), allowing you to build a railroad grid that can be extended indefinitely. All railroad sections fit together without any modification needed (imagine every section as either one square, or multiple squares, in a square grid). As long as the railroad is contiguous, it is guaranteed fit together at any and all junctions. The default scale of the kit is roughly 28mm. However, all model parts should function without problem at virtually any commonly used scale you want to print them at. Please note that the railroad grid may be too thin at sub-6mm scale. A few notes on design I've put some effort into making the railroad models faithful to real railroad tracks. But this is still mainly intended to be a generic railroad grid useable in many various games and settings. If you are looking for highly realistic miniature tracks, this model kit might not be for you. Also note that the model sections with rails crossing or merging do not contain any switches. For various reasons, adding junctions and crossings with detailed switches would be too time consuming. Instead I've simply combined curves and/or straight sections to create junctions. The result is fairly unsophisticated, so I recommend looking closely at the junctions and crossing sections in the image gallery before purchasing. Again, this is not a product in which realism is the main priority.
