Modular Quick Change Filament Reel

Modular Quick Change Filament Reel

Hello! I really needed something bigger this time, so I was no longer printing one spool at a time. This is an 8mm threaded rod spool holder that's designed for quick changing of spools - the open top makes it easy to swap out rods, and the tight fit ensures they screw or hammer in securely. To ensure a solid connection, I heat up the rod before mounting it to match the PLA filament's cooling temperature. The adapter itself measures 52-53mm for my BQ filaments and uses a standard 608 scooter bearing insert. I encourage you to post your creations - I've included the SolidWorks file for the adapter in case you want to modify it for different filament sizes. Here are my print settings: Printer Brand: RepRap Printer: Geeetech Prusa i3 Aluminium Rafts: None Supports: None Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 30% or more Important Notes: To prevent long-term issues, I recommend printing one part first to test with your rod and printer. Once you've confirmed it works well, print the rest of the parts at 40% infill or higher for a solid feel. May require post-processing depending on your mounting needs. Requires 8mm threaded rod - measurements will vary based on your setup.
