!!!! WARNING !!!! I just created an even better CNC design than this one! Check out the new design before building the old version: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3813481 !!!! WARNING !!! I built my own printed CNC machine, and it's a game-changer! I designed it to be modular, with each rail driven independently. Imagine a Delta 3D printer based on this design, or a 3-axis CNC router, even a CNC laser cutter - the possibilities are endless! Right now, I've just built a CNC router that works like a charm with adapted speed and depth. The results are amazing! This machine is still in development, but I'm working on some videos to show you how to build and upgrade it. Want to see the build? Check out my YouTube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pz6y0ho0O4Q If you want to see the base plate, click here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pV0MSZxXf3Y And for some detailed shots, check this out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6kDdH45XQ6k I've also recently uploaded some upgrades (04/11/2018) - check them out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7ykAU7KowE (Sorry, it's in French, but I'll try to translate the videos!) Next up, I'm planning a laser engraving/cutting machine and maybe some other awesome projects! Here are the specs: * Work surface: 450 x 450mm * Spindle: 500W common spindle with ER11 holder * Depth: About 60mm * Tested on wood, plexiglass/polycarbonate Materials used: * 4 x 20 x 40mm x 600mm long aluminum profiles * 2 x 20 x 40mm x 500mm long aluminum profiles * 6 x 8mm x 500mm long chrome steel rods * 2 x 8mm x 200mm long chrome steel rods * 3 x 8mm x 500mm trapezoidal lead screws with nuts * 1 x 8mm x 200mm trapezoidal lead screw with nut * 12 nylon wheels with 5mm bearings (like on Creality CR10) * 18 M4 x 50mm screws (45 or 60mm work too) * 12 M4 w 25mm screws (25mm is VERY important) * 12 M3 x 30mm screws * Some small M3 screws for motors * 4 NEMA17 motors (double type is better) * Arduino UNO with GRBL software and CNC shield V3 Protoneer Here's the list of 3D printed parts you'll need: * 3 x XYAxis_support_motor.stl * 3 x XYAxis_end_rail.stl * 2 x YAxis_cart.stl * 1 x XAxis_cart.stl * 2 x XAxis_wheel_support.obj * 4 x YAxis_wheel_support.stl * 1 x ZAxis_end_rail.stl * 1 x ZAxis_motor_support.stl * 1 x ZAxis_cart.stl * 1 x ZAxis_spindle_support.stl * 2 x Right_machine_foot.stl * 2 x Left_machine_foot.stl Printing tips: * Increase wall lines count and infill to increase the machine's rigidity. * I made a rookie mistake by printing some parts with 20% infill and 2 lines count - it was a bad idea! * For better results, use 4 or 5 wall lines count, 30% infill, and a good pattern like cubic. Thanks for reading!
