Modular Plastic Conveyor Belt

Modular Plastic Conveyor Belt

This is a bespoke design for a modular plastic conveyor belt. Designing began with the creation of custom belt links and sprockets, which were then used to fabricate the majority of a functioning conveyor belt that can operate via either a DC motor or a stepper motor as shown. The belt also accepts a Koyo Encoder for tracking motion, and after some adjustments, it runs smoothly without any issues. For more information, see the "LEGO Conveyor" for additional details. Print Settings Printer Brand: LulzBot Printer: TAZ 5 Rafts: No Supports: No Infill: 20% Notes: The entire print is made of ABS plastic. The sprockets and belt links were printed at high resolution, while the rest was printed quickly. Post-Printing All of the plastic parts connect to two 1" 8020 aluminum extrusions that are each 10" in length. To assemble the links together, I used leftover filament. Some holes needed to be cleaned out with a drill bit. The pieces that attach to the 8020 use standard 1/4" hardware, while the stepper motor, encoder, etc. require M3 screws (mostly 8mm long, 1" for the encoder - yet to be tested). I sourced 1/4" D shafts from RobotShop and also obtained bearings and other parts there. If more information on parts is needed, please let me know.
