Modular Plant Pot System
prusaprinters

The “1” sized planters are only a little over 14 cm a side, with the smallest “0.25” sized pots being half that per side, taking up the perfect amount of space for the windowsill.

I recommend printing the drainage basins in ABS or ASA, as I have had the best luck in getting them to be watertight by adding some acetone smoothing around all the fillets. I have printed the pots themselves in PETG and PLA, but that is less critical.

I usually print everything with draft settings, or just standard 0.2mm linear advanced with the only tweaks being to occasionally use a slab modifier to give the basins 100% infill at the bottom. The walls are all multiples of 0.45mm to allow for even print lines all the way around.

The “holey” models have small gaps built in around the edge to allow for just a little bit of additional evaporation to help dry-loving plants such as succulents. The divot in the corner is vestigial from a previous design that did not allow the basins to have room to evaporate, and I previously used a small bit of tubing to siphon out the drained water. This is no longer necessary with the airflow around these pots, even when packed close together, but I left it there as I enjoy the visual touch of something left over from a previous design requirement.

I'm always looking to improve these, so please to reach out with recommendations or share any remixes, I'd love to see what someone else can come up with. At some point soon I will try to add the original SolidWorks files and STEP files for easier remixing.
