Modular Obelisk
thingiverse
Updated on 12th May: This set comprises modular Egyptian obelisk parts that are ideal for constructing dioramas, war game terrain or decorating any scene that requires a tall, needle-shaped stone column. The term "capital" may not be entirely accurate to describe the top part of the obelisk since it's not technically a column, but it was used here for clarity. An update from 14th May: If you want a more detailed model, check out this file I recently found on Makerbot - http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:20271. There might be hieroglyphics versions added to my file in the future, but no promises. Yet another update from 24th June: Here's a link to an obelisk made with 123D catch - http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:96006. The assembly instructions involve connecting all parts using pyramid-shaped projections and sockets, allowing for some adjustments due to machine settings or gluing for a more permanent bond. The pedestal, plinth, and capital are interchangeable among the obelisks. The small plinth is designed to fit the smaller "Obelisk plain" or "Obelisk ornate", but can also be used as the top portion of the tall obelisk. All parts fit within a standard RepRap's height restriction (under 140mm/5.5") without scaling. Please note that the "Obelisks" file only shows possible part combinations and potential issues may arise due to overhangs or total height.
