Modular minimalist lamp
prusaprinters

I needed a light for my desk. I though it’d be fun to make one myself. I decided to go with a minimalist design that uses smart led bulbs. That way it can fade into the background when not in use, be a normal white lamp when I need it, or have fun color changing ambient lighting.

Since I needed unique names for my lights, they're are named for the Triforce: Wisdom, Power, and Courage

A light socket kit fits into the hole in the base. This should allow what little heat the bulb creates to dissipate.

The cap on the top of the shade is not necessary, but I like that is diffuses the light evenly.

Printing instructions:

I printed using the Prusament PETG at 0.30mm for everything.

I used small supports only on the middle of the base, because I feared the circular hole would affect the bridging somewhat.

I used SUNLU White PETG for the shades. I had a milky white look to it that diffuses the light nicely.

The base is printed in OVERTURE Space Gray PETG.

Assembly instructions:

The base has a hole to hold the butterfly clip on the light socket. The shade and cap both have a 2mm notch on the bottom so that they fit into each other. With the configuration of one base, shade, and shade cap, the lamp dimentions are 80x80x154mm tall. As the shades fit into each other, you can increase the lamp to your desired height. However, the light will be brighter on the bottom as it is the closest to the light source.

The assembly is pretty straightforward. Since I wanted to learn how to make assembly animations, I used this opportunity. Please enjoy this mostly unnecessary animation.

Included files:

Base.stl (80x80x50mm)

Shade.stl (80x80x102mm)

ShadeCap.stl (80x80x6mm)

The FreeCad file I used.

The 3mf files to generate the gcodes

The gcode files I used
