Modular Mecha Repair Bay
myminifactory
A larger scale, modular version of my Mecha Repair Bay. This version at the default scale with 3 pillar sections will be roughly 3.5in / 90mm tall when assembled. At that scale it works well with 2.5-3.25in/63-80mm robot models. Cross beams are slightly proportionally thinner in this version so that the arms can slide side-to-side in the final assembly. To allow the arms of the finished model to slide easily along the cross beam without damaging the paint job, use minimal paint layers on the cross beam and then apply a thin layer of varnish to both the cross beam and the inside of the opening on the arms. To assemble, slide the arms you want onto the cross beam and then glue the cross beam end cap in place. Assembled cross beams can be easily glued anywhere along the zig-zag side of the columns (that side of the columns will give better support and more contact points for the glue than the horizontal bars side).
