Modular #MakerBorMars Base

Modular #MakerBorMars Base

thingiverse

The pressurized core base is built around a set of modules, fully standardized and identical (largely because I only found out about this competition two days ago...or there would be some variety). Each of the main pressurized modules, shaped like squashed spheres, is suitable for human use. The entrances can be sealed to contain pressure leaks. There are multiple paths between any two modules, so that if a path is blocked or another module fails catastrophically, none of the remaining modules will be isolated. Modules which do not require sunlight can be buried underground for additional protection from the elements, and their combination of curvature and positive pressure (relative to Mars' atmosphere) will allow them to hold up under a significant weight of Martian 'earth'. In addition, there are arrays of solar panels for power, as well as a couple unpressurized sheds for parking remote-operated vehicles or keeping materials out of the elements. Due to time constraints, I have not been able to include machine gun emplacements for defending against zombies. WebGL demo at http://www.madengineersworkshop.net/mars.html
