You hate doing magnetic separations when you're limited to using either expensive 8 wide PCR tube holders or 1.7 mL tube holders that aren't properly spaced for multi-channel use, which also costs a lot. Honestly, biotech companies charge upwards of $500 for these racks when it really should cost around $5. Well, no more of this. Here's a modular magnetic rack system that lets you have any number of tubes in a row. Use your 12-channel multichannels and make your own magnet racks for a fraction of the price. Your PI will appreciate this or yell at you for not printing it out sooner. You can never win with PIs. Pictured are older versions of the tube racks, but the files include newer, better designs that I did print, though didn't take pictures of.
