Modular Keyboard Stand - Star Trek Themed
thingiverse
I needed to create a custom keyboard stand, but most print beds wouldn't accommodate its size in one print. To solve this issue, I designed a modular system where you can add additional center sections to increase the width of the stand. You can also simply print out one section and use it for smaller keyboards or tablets. Given that Star Trek's 50th anniversary was approaching, I decided to give the design a themed twist. I'm excited to share this project with everyone! I just finished printing my first section, and I've added pictures of my keyboard to make it look even more authentic. There are only two more sections left to print before I can complete the stand. Here are the print settings I used: Printer: Davini Duo Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 20% Important Notes: You'll need to print with supports due to the embedded ships in the stand. If your slicing software supports selective support features, you can manually place them wherever needed. Unfortunately, I don't have this feature, so I ended up with a lot of unnecessary supports that are a pain to clean out. Post-printing assembly is relatively straightforward: 1. Print out the connectors and insert them into the bottom of the dock. 2. You may want to add rubber feet to the bottom of the dock to prevent it from sliding on your desk. 3. Consider adding rubber tabs to the top of the dock to prevent the keyboard from slipping off. I designed this project using Tinkercad and some silhouettes of ships that I had on hand.
